I just got an email that looked very suspicious. I use eBay but have only purchased items. I have never go to the steps to register as a seller on the service. I got an email tonight demanding that I repay a buyer for some goods and that I tell him the status of his order. It looked very official as thought it came from eBay as a message from an eBay member. I immediately forwarded the message to spoof@ebay.com and got a couple replies back.
One reply mentioned something that all should know, if you don't already. There is a feature in your My Ebay page that includes pending or current messages that you have received from or through the eBay system. If you receive an email claiming to or appearing to be from eBay and it does not appear in that messages folder, it is probably a spoof or phishing scheme. Do Not Reply to it.
Thought I would pass this on to others so that you can all realize, especially those who do sell things to people, that there might be a scam to get your information that appears to be from a dissatisfied buyer. Keep up your guard folks....
