As a 45 year collector of illegal club chips, I do not consider the NY, Texas, etc poker only clubs that sprang after the poker boom, to be what we call "Illegals"

For the most part the Golden ERA of the illegals ended in 1961. Some pockets of them survived here and there but the "ERA" was over.
I think most older illegal collectors feel this way.

The poker clubs are certainly unlicensed card club operations, but they are certainly not Illegals as I know them. I do not reach out for them. Most are using cheap chinese chips.
