Re: NCR Banknote of the Day.... and WHAT a DAY IT

Hello Andy! Are you ready to send me that old obsolete note yet?? Many notes fluoresce under black light, many don't. Most all large denomination modern day notes (1960 up) fluoresce under UV. I have not heard of a single counterfeit that fluoresced, so if it DOES fluoresce it is probably real, if not there are other things to consider. Singapore notes DO fluoresce. The back of the $500SD has the "$500" stamped in about 6 places that can only be see under UV. Also, sliver thread, and watermark can be seen but sometimes are hard to see on a badly worn note. Believe it or not there are a fair amount of fakes out there especially when the value breaks the $100 (book value) mark. Never hurts to be suspicious. But this note I did not know would go that high (no book) so I was not too suspicious and for only 75¢ who cares.

I know someone with a booth there and sent them to buy the rest of his 'junk notes' to be SURE I did not pass anything up. I also sent him (USA) $100 bill through my friend so he feels as delighted as I do. My friend said he did not want to take the $100 but upon hearing the value conceded and was tickled I discovered a treasure in that old zip-loc bag. (You and me both brother! LOL)
