Ole had gotten into the bad habit of gambling and Sven was worried bout him. Ole would gamble on horses. He would bet on football game scores. He would play cards for money, he would bet there was not enough lutefisk to go around the table on Sundays or that he would out fish Sven on Saturdays at the Lake. Lena was exasperated because their money was running low. She made a strong appeal to Ole to cut his gambling out altogether. Ole made a promise to quit cold turkey, but Lena was skeptical.
