It is against Ebay rules and policy to obtain people's Email Address from Ebay for non-Ebay related matters. This is both to protect Ebay from having you use their service and avoid paying them their commissions and also to protect us from Spam.
The Link to this policy is below.
It just so happens that I don't mind getting an occasional offer to sell a chip. However I do resent repeated unsolicited Email like I received from "Casinoboy."
For the most part Chippers messages are welcome because for the most part Chippers are reasonable people.
Howver I have been inundated with crap E-mail from people who got my address from Ebay. How do I know this? Because I had an address that was used for nothing but Ebay and I get tons of Spam obviously aimed at Ebay Sellers (You know the stuff "TAKE CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS NOW!".
I have asked Ebay over and over again to not give out my Email address to anyone other than the Seller of an auction which I won. They do not even respond to my communications.
I welcome other chippers to contact me but i have bid on non chip related items only to be harrassed by merchants who want to sell me Beanie Babies (because I bought some for my mother). So I would prefer that auctions be private and the people who I want to talk to will find me here.
I have turned people in to Ebay for violating the policy (not chippers).
