I found several instances of the sale of ivory teeth. It took me a while to figure out that ivory tusks were referred to as teeth in 1827.
BTW, in one sale, 116 ivory teeth (4000+ lbs) sold for $3600+. Today, one tusk (tooth) sells in the $10,000 area.
Also a set of 250 ivory checks, carved in 4 diffent denominations ($1, $5, $10 & $25) sold for $92 or $86 if cash. Prices have changed. Today such a set would go for about $10k.
