Except, I won't bid against the Pigeon at all unless he says I can. (Apparently I'm not the only one -- I mentioned that in an email to Mike Spinetti once and he said I was the third person who'd told him the same thing about the same auction lot!).

There have been a very few times that I have outbid a chip collecting friend, but I do so reluctantly (and only if it's something I REALLY want).
