After a stay of 37 long days in the hospital, I am finally back home. For my first time ever in a hosital, I did it big time. Since several friends asked, let me explain what happened. For the past year or more, while still in NJ, I had a persittent cough. I didn't really feel "sick" but the cough hung on. I went to NJ doctors, who found NOTHING. Moved to Vegas, felt pretty much the same. As time went on, began to notice that I was very tired all the time. At times, even cared less if I sorted and catalogued my chips. Finally, on Dec.14, had an appt. with a blood doctor. He noticed shortness of breath, checked and found that my oxygen level in blood was very low, and insisted that he put me immediately into the hospital. Eventually lung surgery for biopsy showed very severe pnuemonial. Got that cleared up later, but they would not release me until my body sodium count and some other things were in order.
Am very weak now, but will be scheduling in home therapy next week. I might be at Az. Charlies show, but will be driving my wheelchair.
I wish to thank the many chip folks who sent cards, others who phoned my wife. Thanks for hospital visits from Scott and Estelle Hartman of Calif., and from Dean Porter of Colorado. Many thanks to fellow Vegas collector Ralph Myers for his help in gathering chips, loaning me a wheelchair, cane, and walker. Very special thanks to great friends Walt Tarby and his wife Joan.
Walt picked up countless chips for me, helped my wife often with some store shopping for her, while Joan helped around the home, and with some of the
home paperwork. The chip collecting group makes one proud to be a part of it.
