What, do you think I've been living under a rock? Casinos have been issuing millennium chips. "The list" is of these millennium chips that have been issued. I can count, list, and categorize chips without losing my ability to count years. If you can't see the distinction, well, I guess I can't help you any more than I could help Gene.

By this time next year, we can have two lists - chips to commemorate the false millennium and chips to commemorate the true millennium. Then we have the nebulous category of chips proclaiming 2000 to be "the millennium year." That claim in and of itself does not state whether 2000 is the last year of the 2nd or the first year of the 3rd, and therefore in and of itself is not necessarily wrong. In some cases casino advertising has been more direct, and wrong.

If a casino had issued a chip on New Years day 1991, claiming 1991 was the first year of the new millennium, they would be wrong. If you were going to make a list of all chips that were issued to commemorate the new millennium, would you include it? Hilton issued an Air Races chip last year, for the August Air Races. The Air Races are in September. It was still an Air Races chip.

I am collecting Reno area "millennium" chips. Of all the ones issued, Hilton clearly knows 2001 is the first year of the new Millennium. Sundowner says "Countdown to the new Millennium, but they dont say if that's counting the months of 2000 or the seconds of New Years Eve 1999. Carson Nugget clearly believes 2000 is the new millennium. They are clearly wrong!

As for your Clairidge chip, it looks like a Christmas chip to me. I would not call it a millennium chip unless there is some evidence the casino marketed it as such. Frankly, I don't think the Harveys chip is a millennium chip. I saw nothing on the chip or in the casino proclaiming 2000 as the "new millennium." But because of it's reference to 2000, and the excessive casino hyberbole of 2000 being the new millennium (wrong, mind you), I would not discount the possibilty that Harveys intended it to be a millennium chip, unless someone there in the chip program said otherwise, or they release a millennium 2001 chip next year.
