I quite collect almost LE's several years ago due to being laid off from work. In so much as I could not collect them all, I decide not to collect ANY.
A little bit of any item is always a good thing for the hobby and the collector.
At some point in time, plain old greed takes over to the point that the market is flooded and thus, the market responds accordingly (just like anything else). Check the price of a mirco wave today as compared to when they first came out as an example.
If you just collect $5.00 chips, say from Las Vegas, figure the cost of what acquiring every LE that is issued in a years time IF you could purchase them at face value. Of course, if you do not either live in Las Vegas or have contacts with someone who does, you will end up paying more than face value, if for no other reason, the cost of postage/insurance.
I have other things to spend my limited funds on rather than trying to chase the newest LE!
And what will happen to all of those 'new' collectors who joined the hobby as a result of them collecting LE's? Either they will move on to something else (with a very bad taste left in there mouth as a result) or just leave the hobby totaly.
It happend with sports cards, I think it is showing the effects here as well.
