I predicted this 'down-turn' in the value of LE's when I first joined the board over a year ago. But I really didn't think it waould happen this quickly.
At that time I got so badly slammed for calling them gaudy trash (which I still believe) that my real message got obscured.
The message was, when the bottom falls out, some people who bought as investmet are going to get hurt, and a lot of newbies are going to be overwhelmed and disillusniomed.
I still collect Grand Opening LE's because I consider them to be issues with 'legiimate' commemerative purpose.
But I still say, and it seems some others are agreeing with me, that the casinos created the LE circus with nothing but profit in mind, and in doing so have abused collectors and damaged the hobby.
Hooters is attempting to push the envelope even further by issuing 'monthly' chips (I don't follow them so I don't know how often the Palms calander girl chips come out. Too often I would guess.). I am on record as of now, predicting that this will come back to bite them, and all who purchase their pretty things. Not to mention even more damage to the fabric of the chipping hobby.
