I see that the seller has zero feedback, and it sure does look like a scam. If he was offered $600, why wouldn't he or a friend buy it from the cage now? (Why wouldn't a collector go down to the cage now to buy it?) ... ... ..... If a collector bids on it on eBay, he can pay with a credit card-funded PayPal payment, and if it is a fraud and PayPal does not protect him, he can order his credit card company to issue a chargeback.
