Hi Scott,
As I see it, casinos in many areas have taken actions with their chip releases that have forced (or helped) collectors narrow their areas of collecting. LE's in values over $5 only was a huge mistake for AC. Floods of Nevada LE's have and will help collectors realize that if they aren't gonna collect all Nevada (or any part of Nevada), it's okay to choose a few casinos within an area.
There have been a couple mistakes made by Colorado casinos, and some still in place flaws in CO Gaming regs (and on at least one occasion, a combination of both-the Silver Hawk $5, obsolete again now). ....selling a chip at over face from the cage is a hot topic here, and will remain one until we can have it written into law as something you can't do. Jazz Alley was the first casino to do so with an individual chip from the cage with this year's millennium $5, selling it for $10.
The Lodge might be learning what a mistake they made when they began their 50 states chip issue this month. 4 $5 chips a month during 2000. There are still racks of the first four states sitting in the cage. ....and they don't like it!
Too bad....
Bob
