Nothing really fancy...
I have a relatively out of date digitial camera. It is an Olympus C-3000 3.3 Megapixel. I think it's 4-5 years old. It was a pretty good camera when it first came out, but technology quickly made it "out of date". I take the pictures one at a time in "MACRO" mode without any flash. The MACRO mode focuses the image really well provided there is plenty of natural light. Then I just open the image with one of several programs that allows you to crop or trim in a circular mode and save the image as a JPEG. Oh, I also try to adjust the image a few degrees before I crop it if it's slightly turned. I'm NO expert on the pros and cons of saving these things in different formats and sizes, etc. This works for me so I never took the time to read all about what other options provide you.
Now I certainly wouldn't do this for a $8 chip on ebay.
Hope this helps.
