Looks to me like SOME people never had to eat the food at a Tropicana banquet! Well, maybe I've got a chip on my sholder since anytime I can eat salmon I feel like I'm sticking it to our governor, Teddy TaxAndGougeMe. He puts fishies ahead of everyone including chippers. Wish I could get my Detroit Deisel to run on owls and wild salmon. Riviera banquet = good food, good service, beautiful room.
While last year's speaker didn't have the sizzle of a Stupack or Maheu he did have a very interesting approach into the gaming industry. The acquision of Harrah's by Holiday Inn was big time in its day. Your casino experience today is Largely (Capital "L"!) shaped by both Bill Harrah and the Holiday Inn chapter in his clubs. Come on Mark buddy, you know this! Got to admit though that a couple of good books under your belt would flesh out last year's guest's tale. Me 'n Englebretson have both read Dwayne Kling's Every Light Was On and Leon Mandel's William Fisk Harrah...read them in that order. Pretty compelling story about the plane ride back to Reno after Harrah's death, Bill's Cat That Ate The Canary lawyer swilling champagne in front of the widow. Don't know if last year's speaker dealt with the lawyer guy but had to be comparable to some of the slimeballs Maheu ran across.
Wynn for a guest? Wow, that would be epic! Will he take questions about him and Dolly Parton? Steve, baby, I gotta know...
Me? I'm certainly gonna be at our banquet, God willing. Thanks to all the club members who bring us this yearly chipper balst! Oh wait, I do have one complaint! The absolute LAME-O beer selection at Riviera! Sheesh! Beck's is about the only palatable brew in the house.
