Hi All,
I was about to book my room at The Riviera for the convention, until a couple of things happened.
First, a club member emailed me and WENT OFF on the comfort/cleanliness of his room last year. I decided to look around a little myself by checking out the traveler reviews on some of the larger travel sites like travelocity. It seems like every 3rd review or so voiced a similar complaint. That raises a red flag to me.
Next, I read here that you can actually book a room at The Riv cheaper by NOT using the "discount" being extended to club members.
So a few questions: a) What did you think of the quality of the room if you were there last year? I am a little finnicky over stuff like this. If I am not comfortable, then I am not comfortable.
I don't need to be pampered, mind you, just comfortable.
b) I read a mention that, while booking thru the club costs a little more, it gets you a room upgrade. Is this for certain, and what is the quality of an upgraded room at The Riviera. If booking this way makes a difference, then that is important.
c) What are the solid alternatives? I have the Vegas Advisor coupon book and see that I can get $50 off my hotel bill at The Palms. I looked online and a room there was about $90 a night. Only problem being I am staying until Saturday and most of the places jack the rates Friday night, and The Palms goes to $300. NO WAY JOSE, lol. So I would need to move on Friday, but that doesn't bother me.
How about the just opened Hooters place? Anyone see the rooms there? What about The Flamingo or The Stratosphere? I would max out at about $100 a night and I don't mind walking/monorailing.
Any guidance/suggestions/comments always welcomed and appreciated!
