Lessons:
(1) you can get your money back, I believe, from PayPal, whether it is insured by PayPal's buyer protection plan or not -- reason: misrepresentation, or as PayPal puts it -- A physical good you purchased on eBay that is significantly different than what was described in the listing.

(2) I see that you are covered in the auction by PayPal Buyer Protection Plan.

(3) you should try to pay for everything via PayPal by credit card. Chargeback is buyer's best friend.
