To the person who emailed several fellow collectors in regard to my "website-collection" auction, urging them not to bid because they were offended by the fact that I would not divulge the reserve price. I was informed, but in order to prevent an argument amongst fellow collectors, I was not given this individuals name for fear their names would come up - thus causing animosity between them. I will not speculate as to who it was for the simple reason that many people read this board. However I would like to say this.
If, whoever you are, felt that I was being unfair by not divulging my reserve, then perhaps you should have analyzed the situation a bit closer before throwing sticks & stones. The reserve is a paid option designed for sellers to protect their investment. I have always felt that if an individual sees an item he or she is interested in, he or she should decide to themselves what they are willing to pay, then place a bid accordingly. I personally think that it's unfair to divulge reserves to some, but not others. For instance other fellow collectors not viewing these posts, but following eBay auctions in search of such items. I am not a dealer trying to compete with anyone, rather I am just a collector like the majority of the folks in this group.
Also let it be known that I am not pointing the finger at any one individual, it could have been anyone. I just think that by conducting one's self in this manor, breeds animosity and discontent amongst one another. This is a great club made up of literally thousands of great people. But when I heard about this, it left an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. But I'm over it now, and whoever you are, I hope you are as well.
No hard feelings and no response needed. Just something I felt needed addressing.
Everyone enjoy the day,
Sam
