With the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks facing off in Super Bowl XL, the Longhorns will be well represented with a total of three participants, including two regular starters, in the game.

For the AFC Champion Steelers, Casey Hampton should be starting at nose tackle, and for the NFC Champion Seahawks, D.D. Lewis should be starting at outside linebacker, Marcus Tubbs is a key reserve at defensive tackle with starting experience.

The trio will be the first Longhorns to reach the Super Bowl since Priest Holmes made it with the Baltimore Ravens in 2001. Including Holmes, Texas had a streak of four straight Super Bowls with a participant, dating back to Dan Neil in 1998, and prior to that had a streak of 11 straight. The three this season is the most since 1999 with the high for UT being six in 1988.

Thirty-three different former Longhorns have been members of 22 different Super Bowl teams. Fourteen of those have claimed Super Bowl rings with Dan Neil (Denver Broncos, 1998-99) and Terry Orr (Washington Redskins 1988, '92) each winning two.
