The rights to the mold were, as you say, owned by Bill Borland when he acquired them as part of the Bud Jones estate in 1991. However, the physical 'mold' never left the manufacturer (Burt Co., now Atlantic Standard Molding) from the day it was first used, and it remains there to this day. When Borland died, Jerry Wall 'inherited' the rights. Jim Blanchard, owner of ASM, bought back the rights of the mold 3 or 4 years ago.
To my knowledge the die has only been used about 4 times since then. The $5 Horizon Lake Tahoe chip was the first live Nevada gaming chip on this mold since Borland supplied an order for Hotel Nevada, Battle Mountain 14 years ago. 3 'personal' chips have also been made like the one shown below.

Now, in the years that Borland had the rights to the mold, he had the right to hot-stamp the blank chips, which he either acquired from the BJ estate of by subsequent order from ASM. However, this further article will show you how he used them to make counterfeits.

Im not sure whether ASM have 'retired' the mold now or not, but there is now no way that they would sell blank chips regardless. I have no idea what to suggest for you. Blanks on the 'NEVADA' mold show up in quantity from time to time, but not the 'DIECARD' you require.

Now here is some additional info You will see from the article that the two molds were 'partners' for many years. ASM continued to make 'Nevada Jacks' home game chips on the NEVADA mold until a couple of years ago, when Jim Blanchard sold the rights to the mold to a friend of mine Nick Bates. Nick owns a half share of NevadaJacks.net, although he bought the physical mold for his personal collection. The mold was moved to Blue Chip Co in Las Vegas who then produced a further sizeable order of the chips. However, the quality of chips produced by Blue Chip Co since they started operation has been 'lacking' and Nick has no further plans for the mold at this time. I made an offer to buy it (and send it back to ASM ) but it wasnt available at any price.

Nick has an 'interest' in Blue Chip Co and last time he was in London several months ago he told me they have now managed to improve their manufacturing quality to the point they can produce a small inlay chip like mine above to rival the ASM quality. He wanted to know if I would be interested in having bulk home poker chips made to sell on my website. I said I would like to see a sample first, in fact I would like to see the exact same chips as above reproduced on the NEVADA mold, including the 'cross hatching'. He agreed and I am told they finished making the chips last Friday. Obviously I havn't seen them yet. Nick flew over to London a couple of days ago and I am expecting him to call me any time now to meet for lunch
As the chips were not quite ready for Nick to bring with him, Mr Endy, the owner of Blue Chip, offered to hand deliver them today to a certain Mr Trimble who frequents this board also

I hope they have improved the quality. Blue Chip would be prepared to make custom orders for home poker sets from 500 pieces upwards. Significantly less than Paul-Sons requirements of 250,000 chips minimum.
