Hi Katie,
The "suit" in this case is Virginia Lewis who owns the casino. She got some very bad advice. Lee emailed me a couple days ago wondering how she might be able to remedy this situation. It looked like a no win matter, no matter what she tried. If she reversed the policy of selling them from the cage at $10, those who already bought them would be screwed. If she pulled the remaining chips from the cage and destroyed them, we'd have an artificially created rarity and she'd have to eat the cost of the issue. I suggested to Lee that she could buy key rings to house the rest of the chips she has and sell them from the gift shop for the same $10. Apparently that suggestion fell on deaf ears at the casino....
The stupidity shown concerning this one chip is not reason enough to not collect Colorado chips. Most Colorado casinos are very collector friendly. Black Hawk Station has allowed collectors to reserve specific serial numbers on a series of limited edition chips. Bronco Billy's will put you on a mailing list, and send you LE's when they're issued.
A letter to the Jazz Alley sure can't hurt. Perhaps you might want to include my suggestion that they pop for the key chain. I see it as the only way to remedy this situation.
