There is a reason that Nevada and 99% of all of the states have them destroyed or notched. They want to prevent the use of fraudulent chips, or allowing someone to use a true casino chip and having them altered to look like a real chip. Taking the face of the inlays off and creating new inlays has been going on forever and is a huge risk to the industry. Gaming Commissions and the FBI have been busting counterfeit chip makers continuously, and recently in Nevada and elsewhere. Its a huge problem.
Secondly if the State of Washington wants to allow these closed casinos the opportunity to sell off these chips, then there should be a open bidding process whereby all can be informed of the sale and participate. This bidding process should be approved and monitored by the state. If I were a collector, as most are, of Nevada chips and this type of bulk sale of used chips took place, the value of my collection would be worthless. As collectors, we purchase knowing that the chips may become rare, and thats why daily people inquire as to rarity and value of what we collect. Allow this type of unmonitored sellingoff of chips and all of our collections are for not!
