Boardwalk concessions along the Jersey Shore have been called "casinos" for years ... long before legalized gambling was introduced in the State. They are well-known from Asbury Park, Long Branch, Keansburg, Seaside Heights, Atlantic City, Wildwood, etc.

These aluminum tokens were awarded for amusement games such as Skillo which a player could accumulate and be redeemed for prizes. Of course the occassional day visitor to these summer towns could not accumulate enough tokens for a substantial prize as one who spent their vacation or the entire summer there could accumulate..., so many of these tokens went unredeemed.
