Bonsour Edward,
Harrah's was hurt far worse, then the Isle of Capri. Because of 2 main reasons, location and the way they was built. And you have to remember the wind came the hardest from the east.
Harrah's restrants, boarding areas, along with some offices(on a smaler separate barge alongside). Was all located on barges(all welded together), mostly 1 BIG one. This barge complex stuck out into the lake, several hundred feet. With the 2 riverboats out at the far end of the complex. Farest from the shore.
When the hurricane came, they was sticking out. With nothing to slow or block the wind. The wind and high water caused by the hurricane. Broke the morring lines of the barge complex. And turned it 90 degrees to the west. Putting it against the beach and breaking it up some. And also traping the Pride of Lake Charles in the mud between the barge complex and the beach. The smaller office barge sunk in the lake. Not far from where the whole barge complex was. It is still sunk in the lake. Since the lake here is not but about 8 to 10 feet deep, you can still see it.
However, the Isle of Capri was located accross the lake on the west shore. The 2 riverboats is the only thing that is located on the water. Mostly what all the wind and water here did. Was to push the 2 riverboats against the docks that was built for them. Hardly any damage was done to the riverboats. Most of the damage was to the 2 hotels and the other land based buildings. Especially the Isle of Capri Inn. And this was just about all water damage from, broken windows. Nothing structural as I understand it. The Isle of Capri took this opportunity to redue the rooms in the inn and some in the tower. Just about all the work is finished.
The Isle of Capri complex is open. And pretty much back to like it was before the storm.
Hope this answers your questions.
