ABC will have a 24 hour countdown to the Millennium. Jennings will do the entire 24 hours. Per Jennings: This has been the century of the Common Man. I think we have increasingly begun to defer to the common man's instinct that the turnover is 2000. The common man wants the Millennium Sat night. So be it!!!

MTV's countdown to the Millennium will start at 5PM Friday.

In the Kiribati Islands, there is a little Island called Caroline. It has been offically renamed "The Millennium Island" They will be the 1st country to experience the New Millennium at the official time of 12:00:01. (I think I have seen that clock somewhere else)
