I answered 'No' to 1, 2 and 7. I don't see anything wrong with trying to straighten out a warped chip at this point. I will be the first to admit that I don't know much about it but I am leaning toward this being ok.
The removal of glue or varnish I have no problem with. If we consider this altering a chip, I don't see how cleaning a chip can be seen as anything but altering as well.
On a similar line of thought, if getting a chip out of a bolo tie or keychain can be done without harming the chip, how is this altering it? It is just encased in something, the same way we encase chips in Air-tites.
Hope I don't get too roasted for my views.
