I always play a fair amount on strike machines to get 'stock'. On my first half a dozen trips to LV I must have put $20k through them, and never recalled a decent winning spin, let alone a jackpot. Although my overall cost per strike was probably about $11, it seemed to me that the Palms machines were the poorest payers of all. By contrast, the IP shelled out maybe 100 strikes for $500.
Finally though, about a year ago, I hit the jackpot on a Barbary Coast machine just before they took the old machines out ($800 + 25th Anniversary $200 strike)
The new machines came in and I got lucky at the Palms. In July, Chuck Smorse was playing while I watched. He hit the jackpot and decided to cash out. We swapped places. 20 minutes later I hit it.
Last month I was watching someone play while I waited. She hit a jackpot. She said "I will just play this down to a round number" and Im done. TWO spins later she hits it again. Now she cashes out.
I start and the machine continues to pay well. Ive put in $400 so far, got just over 40 strikes and about $50 left. Jackpot hits again. I play a few more spins and decide to leave with the money
Nett wins on strike jackpots about the same as Theresa's, but no tax for me
