I don't believe I tried to explain this seller's motivation, Rich. Only commented that the prices he was getting were reasonable for the craftsmanship in even a recently made chip.

I suspect his use of the word "rare" is intended to apply to the material... elephant ivory IS rare, as the environmentalists have made it difficult or impossible to import.
