I've used regular business envelopes and never had a problem. I sandwich the chip(s) between two large, thick pieces of cardboard. Then I use strong 2" wide tape around the sides, Then I tape this cardboard bundle to an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper, which is then folded and placed in the envelope. Then I use the same tape on the ends of the envelope. It is easier than it sounds. ... ....... Maybe padded envelopes are best for strong modern casino chips, but the poker chips I deal in are more frail, and I always fear they may break in the padded envelope if the envelope is ever folded over, etc. So even in a padded envelope, I'd like the sandwiching with cardboard.
