I posted a message a couple of weeks ago about my aim to get '50 chips in 5 days' on my recent short holiday in Vegas. Well here are the results and the highlights (if anyone is interested!).
The final count was 95 chips collected from 45 casinos up and down the strip and downtown. Pretty much all of them are in very good condition and quite a few unplayed. We used the advice given back from the original posting about going before lunchtime and using the "it's for a souvenir" line and by the end my wife and I were both getting pretty good at it.
THE BEST / MOST HELPFUL
STARDUST - Fantastic cashier who found me 8 unplayed chips, including their 45th anniversary set.
ALADDIN - Cashier made it his 'mission' to find all of their current $5 chips for me to choose from.
THE WORST
MONTE CARLO - Miserable, Ignorant and Unhelpfull are three of the politest words I can use to describe the cashiers. And we tried cashiers at different times.
MOST FRIGHTENING
GOLD SPIKE - This must be the most smelly, cramped and intimidating casino in Las Vegas. Dodgy people outside and worse inside. And this was at 10.00 in the morning!!!!!
BIGGEST LET DOWN
HARD ROCK - For a casino that promotes itself through it's pins, chips, lighters etc etc collectables the cashier didn't go out of her way to help us at all. She just picked a very small selection and with a big sigh said "this is all I have" - Perhaps she was just having a bad day.
BEST MEMORY
WYNN - Chips are boring, but I hit 4 deuces on deuces wild - Thanks Mr Wynn! (You can afford it)
