Gene Trimble and David Spragg seem to want to scream at the top of their lungs that ALL slabbing is bad and that altered chips in the marketplace are everywhere. I don't believe it and have heard that only about 50 chips have been done by Dave Whalen.

Their solution is to tell people that all chips should be suspect and you will definitely get ripped off buying expensive collectible chips in this hobby. I don't believe it is happening now but do believe that bad people will eventually learn that this hobby could be a potential gold mine for ripping people off. We as a hobby should be looking for solutions now rather than later. David Spragg posted photo's of xrayed chips and that looks like a key way to detect holes in chips that have been filled. There are surely more ways to check for altered chips but Gene and David's solution is to tell everyone the end is near rather than help to find countermeasures now. Enough said.
