Where's George?
In Response To: Family Portraits ()

Nice job Don! Guess George never rated a chip although he made it onto these cards. Born with a girl twin in '44, George was one of three children Pappy had with his second wife. Pappy wanted George to be a Dr. but Geo wanted into the "store" and started the day he turned 21. Harold Sr. and Raymond A., his half-bros, were about 30 years older and not at all close family or personal wise.

Skimming George's interview in Kling's oral history A Family Affair, is pretty interesting and reveals a lot of the finacial arrangments that Harolds Club operated under. Brother Raymond was definately "little" brother in the whole thing. Went from the biggest casino in the world to a very pitiful bottom line at the end. Kling was making more money running the tiny Silver Spur across the street! Hughes bought the joint, George got $1 million, Sr. got $4 million and Raymond A, got $440,00! And of course, Harold Jr. got the girl in the end.
