do your chipping in the early morning. People tend to sleep in in Vegas (unless checking out). There is almost no people traffic before 10 am. Then it starts to build, and at night and most of the afternoon it is push and shove.
Daytime downtown is the right time for chipping. At night, getting to some casinos can be quite interesting. Don't forget the near satrip casinos (Westin Casuarina, Hilton, Rio, Palms, etc.). Break the strip into parts.
Also the cashiers aren't as busy then so they are more willing to indulge collectors, helping to find chips (and checking in back).
Get two of each (or more) its nice to have traders. check to see if there are multiple chips, and know what you want before you get there. KNow is closing, you may not get another chance.
Sign up for the clubs, many give freebies, free is good. Comfortable shoes. The sign up booths and cashiers are never right inside the table.
I always treat it as a 'trek' or 'safari'. Have fun and drink water (lots and lots of water).
