It probably can't help with this transaction but one thing you could do for the future is open a checking account at one of the banks that offer free checking and put a small deposit into the account and then tie it to your paypal account. Your liability is probably limited to the amount in the account which you can control. It gives you an easy way move money into or out of your paypal account.
