"I was trying to point out poker is not all luck"

I was trying to point out the luck factor is bigger than you might think.
The "BEST" can not win without a little luck.
Thats why they call it gambling. At least they call it that everywhere in the world except CA. In CA the law says it is a game of skill.

I have seen runs of luck last for years.
"my point was a bad player can't compete with the pros"
My point is in some cases he can and in many cases he can move your money where you will never see it again.

I started playing poker with pros in late 1961. My friend, an old timer and mentor watched me play for a year or so. One day he said "Boy, that birds gonna fly off your shoulder one of these days and you will have to learn how to play poker."
It did, I did.

I made a good living from the game for 10 years 1970-80. Playing poker is a job. It is a stressful job. It can bring great happiness and it can bring you to your knees in tears. It is a life of BIG swings. At the end of 10 years playing for a living and keeping records I was ahead more than you would believe if I typed it here. I looked back and thought about the last 10 years and decided to make life easier, so I got my 1st real job. That was 1980, I never regretted the decision.
