hang on that confused me even more! They gave $10 each initially ($30 total), but were each given $1 each ($3 total) in return. So together, they only contributed $27. So the $30 now is not a part of the equation since they have only contrubted $27. The bill was $25, bellman kept $2, and thats the $27.
