I've had fantastic luck with my HP scanner! It's been a total work horse, has lasted forever, and was cheap too. Color representation is always perfect.

The only thing I can recommend is:

Stay away from the multi-funtion units (fax/scanner/copier/popcorn maker)

Steer clear of Lexmark (I have one in my office, and other of my centers. The scanners aren't true color. The picks come out white, and other colors are off too!
