Now, the idea that somehow the first year was deliberately (or accidentally, or incidentally) numbered zero is an interesting concept generally put forth by those who have made up their minds that a century or millennium must change when the significant digit changes, and then grasp for justification. Think about it. It's 500 plus years after the birth of Christ. King Gregory decrees that we will mark time relative to His birth. These people don't understand the concept of zero, consider it a tool of the devil, but are going to use it to number the first year of our Lord's life on earth? You know, that year between when He was born and when He turned 1? I don't think so. Educated scholars and historians don't think so. Chip designers and event schedulers are convinced.
