Southwest Airlines weighed my suitcase when I flew to the convention and it was 50.5 pounds, just the limit beyond which they charge a $25 surcharge. I was already carrying my case of chips and my shoulder bag with my laptop and more chips and was not sure how I was going to get back home with the extra stuff I always buy and trade for at the conventions.
On the last day, I came across some super older tokens that I couldn't pass-by, and ended up with about 12 pounds of just tokens. I decided to ship them home rather than risk them in checked baggage at a surcharge or hurt my back adding to the shoulder bag. There is a USPS facility behind Stardust and an Office Depot not far away on Sahara. Bought a box, bubble pack, reinforced tape, and a sharpie, and dropped them off on Monday morning. Registered mail still cost $25 with $2K insurance, but I didn't have to worry about damage, theft, or personal injury. I was somewhat surprised when the packaged was delivered at 1 p.m. today in Oregon, only about 26 hours later. I'd consider this a good alternative for future trips when you want to avoid the bother of heavy and somewhat expensive purchases.
