....."there should be a 2 yr term limit for election of on all club officers , it would give more people a chance to hold a post " ... Joe Pavlik
First of all, Who ever suggested (besides Joe Pavlik) that the purpose of having elections is to give more people a chance to hald a post? The purpose of an election is for the membership to vote for the best qualified person to the office he/she is seeking and to provide an opportunity to reject someone who the membership feels is not currently doing the job.
Secondly; I don't see an overwhelming number of club members throwing their hat in the ring come election time ... inlcuding Joe Pavlik's hat.
Thirdly; Several elections over the years have been uncontested with only one candidate seeking office.
Fourth; It takes a majority vote by the membership for an individual to get elected to ANY term ... not by making unkept promises.
Lastly ... and most importantly ... it would take a vote by the entire membership to change the club's Constitution and Bylaws to change to a two-year limit term; not by making a wishful thought on a message board.
If you are indeed serious about your 2-year term limit idea, Joe ... I would suggest that you draft your proposed changes under the current rules and submit them as called for in the club's C & BL under the required process to change things and let the membership decide.
I seriously doubt that you'll find much support for your suggestion Joe ... especially with the current slate of elected officers ... who in my personal opinion are all doing a fine job.
