You are right, it would give more people a chance to hold office. I don't think though that that is necessarily a good thing.

As it is now, Anyone can run for office and if the members want them more than they want the other person, then they will be elected. But, what if we have a really good person in office, one that works hard and that everyone really likes. Why prevent them from running again? If you prevent them and no one any good steps up and runs, you may get someone in the office that does a lousy job and who only got elected because they were the best of two evils.
