I'm sure that simple clay-composite chips will be affected by extreme heat.
I worked as an Archaeologist in the southwest, and we did numerous projects in Death Valley, Needles, and Yuma.
In several of these areas we noticed Rock Spalling. Rock Spalling is when an outcrop of rocks heats up so much they split and flake!
On numerous occaisions we had to pick up samples using oven mitts, because the rocks were too hot to handle by uncovered hands.
So yeah! If uncovered heat can cause rocks to crack, then it can screw your chips in a covered, and contained, car!
Heat can also negate magnetic credit card strips!
