David; I've sat in at several booths the club has sponsored in the past and have given away hundreds if not thousands of club woods over the years. At the recent ANA convention in Chicago this past August, Chuck Tomarchio, Brenda and I not only gave out woods, but the club booth was designated as an offical stop on the world money tour for young numismatist who had to answer a simple question (who is pictured on a $5 bill?) and we gave out hundreds of free ten cent slot tokens to a lot of kids for their correct answer. All I can say is that all the woods that were sent to me for distribution at past ANA conventions, FUN conventions, etc., were distributed ... and very few, if any, were left when the shows were over. Now if the promotions chairman is referring to sales of what remaining inventory he has on hand, that is another matter. I guess my question would be are the woods being issued as a publicity promotional tool, as a good-will giveaway, or as a revenue source? There are no wrong answers to the three choices. All three options have valid potentials if promoted properly in my opinion.
