John; I too wish this thread began on the club bb.... but since it has developed to the point it has ... I offer my comments here as well. If what I'm reading is accurate.... I don't quite understand the reluctance on the part of CCGTCC officials to pay for the woods that have been traditionally manufactured for distribution at the annual F.U.N. convention held each January in Orlando. These club woods have been distributed at F.U.N. (Florida United Numismatists) long before the formation of a Florida Chapter. The woods have nothing to do with the Florida Chapter... although I do understand that chippers who have volunteered to staff the CCGTCC booth at F.U.N. are Florida Chapter members. These relatively inexpensive woods have been distributed annually as a good-will gesture and to serve as a publicity tool for the national organization. The club (CCGTCC) will be holding an informal meeting during the F.U.N. convention and the meeting date and time will be listed in the official convention program. The national hobby press has occassionally illustrated our wood issues in post-convention coverage write ups in papers such as Coin World and Numismatic News. It would be a shame to break the continuity of the series at this point in time. Surely, the cost of these woods can't be a financial concern considering the exposure the cub receives. Additionally, the sale of these woods to wooden money collectors and to CCGTCC members who were not present during the F.U.N. convention, pays a large part of the cost to have them manufactured.
