$50,000 Chips Are on the Tables
Log: For the first time at this year's World Series of Poker, $50,000 chips are being introduced to the tables to reduce the size of some of the chip stacks. They are subtle chips, with a tan and brown color scheme that is reminiscent of the camoflauge used during Desert Storm and the Iraq War. In this tournament, those chips definitely represent some heavy artillery.
According to our sources, those are the highest denomination chips that will be used this year. A standard stack of 20 chips will be worth $1,000,000. (That's non-negotiable, so don't try cashing those in at the cashier's cage.) So at the final table, whoever ultimately wins will have a little over 56 stacks of chips. Picture it in your head, and then picture your favorite player sitting behind them.
