Heck Marty, I'll trade you a bad check for $500 from a contractor, for your bad $300 check. You can almost double your money.
In business for over 30 years, and guess who has stiffed me the most with non-payments? Hospitals!
Most of my sales used to be by phone, and I'd ship and people would mail a check when they got the invoice a few days later.
Hopefully this will work out. Don't you have any 6'6" 300lb. cousins named Guido, with a broken nose, to go ring their doorbell and hand them an invoice, and ask them (very politly of course) to please pay the bill?
Last time I got done with a collection agency, they took all the profit, plus some and I was happy to get 90% of my cost back.
People wonder why dealers have the markup they do. It's overhead and inventory and expenses, plus some loss to bad accounts...
