...I actually played "double hold'em" at the Aviation Club in Paris a couple of years ago. Let me tell you that this is one tough S.O.B. of a game... especially at no limit.
The way the "dealer's choice" games there work is that they have a "thing" with leather ovals attached to each other with a small leather strap. On each side of each oval is the name of a game. The "thing" moves around with the dealer's button, at which time the button selects which game they want to play (there are maybe 8 or so games to choose from), and places the oval with the game imprinted on it on top of the stack to his left... that's the game that's played that hand. The "double hold'em" game was the most popular choice, and it had me completely befuddled. I won a couple of hands of it and to this day I have no idea how, it all happened so fast. If I'm not mistaken, I believe they had double-Omaha/8 as well.
