Actually Deadwood had 3 houses of ill repute left until 1980 when the state attorney general closed them down. (Maybe they were getting the town cleaned up for legal gaming in the future ) I was just up in the Black Hills last week and read that somewhere.

My wife's family settled in the Sturgis area in the early 1880's. It is interesting to hear some of the old time stories from the wild days in the hills.
