I just purchased a Canon LiDE scanner at Staples last week with cashback credits, and I'm having different issues to deal with.

The LIDE scanner is fine for scanning large color, flat documents, but my experience has been that when scanning 3-dimensional items; such as chips, the background is very dark to light purplish. Previous scanners I've owned such as HP and Visioneer One-touch have all produced bright white backgrounds. Phone calls to Canon's help desk techs and e-mails have not been able to solve the problem.

If anyone is contemplating purchasing the Canon LIDE scanner, I would recommend sticking with something else.
