Good morning all. Had a good nights rest and time to reflect on all that's been said and then I read Mr. Rielly's post about civility. He's absolutely right! So with that thought in mind, please accept the following truths/facts I am putting out to this bb in a civil manner regarding club expenses for promotion/publicity.
In a previous post I mentioned Treasurer Tomarchio's "1998 Income & Expenses Year to Date" report that was distributed to anyone who wanted a copy at the public meeting in Las Vegas this past August. On page 4 are the following entries for paid advertising, primarily to the "outside world", which lists the check number, publication the ad appeared in, and the amount spent under the heading, ADS; These ads and news releases were prepared and submitted by Dennis Zeller Club Publicity Director.
America's Most Wanted To Buy $165.00
Gaming Times July Front Cover $1000.00
Today's Collector 24.97
Southern Antiques 35.00
Coin World 51.55
The Antique Shop Of Tennesee 55.20
Arizona Antique News 48.00
Paper Pile Quarterly 32.00
In addition, the following club promotional and advertising expenses associated with the convention are as follows under the heading CONVENTION EXPENSES: (A note of explanation is in order here.... The Convention Publicity Chairman was Vincent Mowery of Las Vegas. Vince handled only the convention publicity.... Dennis Zeller handles our Club Publicity all year long).
Crestline Company Wallet calendar cards $654.61
Graphic Research Co Convention Flyers $855.00
Krause Publications Advertising $150.00
Vincent Mowery Advertising advance $2,500.00
Collector Magazine Advertisement 62.00
Graphic Research Publicity Flyer 643.93
Paul Bender Convention pins 598.00
Chester West Productions Two advertisements 200.00
Krause Publications Special Section Ad 150.80
Crestline Company, Inc Convention (plastic) bags 816.57
Now folks, I don't want to beat a dead horse.... and I'll try to be nice, but those are the facts that have been requested from me to publish from previous posts you have read on this BB. You now have all the facts and you can decide for yourselves and be the collective judges whether this club has been, and is being promoted and advertised. My calculations show that the club has spent much more than the paltry figure that was quoted in previous posts by a well intentioned but uninformed member.
Happy chip hunting to all. Archie
